Interesting. We went to a museum yesterday in rural Moldovia, the artist whose work is the basis for the entire museum , sculpted and carved and turned his back on ‘art’ his mission was to reflect the culture of Romania and not to make money but to come to terms with what the communist state had done to the folk art here, his art was to heal himself.
Somewhat ironically it is now very popular and sought after by galleries and museums in France and Belgium!
Nicolae Popa Museum – look it up, it has integrity and beauty that certainly does reflect this ancient land.
